ICT Competitiveness Week, Brussels

Monday, September 17, 2012 - Thursday, September 20, 2012
Events with NESSI participation

On 17-20 September, the European Commission is organising an 'ICT Competitiveness Week' in Brussels as part of preparing for the final adoption of Horizon 2020.

The European Commission Directorate General CONNECT (former DG INFSO) is responsible for the ICT part of the Horizon 2020 and has been working with setting up a concrete and clear common plan for the upcoming framework programme. Thus the 'ICT Competitiveness Week' aims to enrich the policy tools and priorities available to the Commission in order to help the ICT sector create more jobs and to deliver European growth.

In particular, DG CONNECT is looking for new ideas on how research priorities are set and how they can combine them with the use of the wider range of policy tools beyond those covered in H2020. In addition, the objective with the week is to promote a more agile and responsive space for creativity and a genuinely SME-friendly approach while at the same time complementing more traditional incentives.

The days of the ICT Competitiveness Week will consist of both sectorial and cross-cutting sessions. The sectorial workshops will focus on identifying main obstacles to ICT fully contributing to Horizon 2020 strategies on competiveness and growth. The sectorial sessions aims at refining and validating DG CONNECT strategies in areas such as electronic components and systems, advanced manufacturing robotics, photonics.

The event is a so called “working event” and external participation is by invitation only.
